Why in the world do so many people recommend the Iteron V over any other Industrial? I understand that it has the ability to haul more cargo than the other haulers, but let's take a look at the big picture:
Player A - Needs a basic hauler for transporting goods around but has no desire to invest an excessive amount of time to reach that goal (which would take away from training skills for other purposes, like killing people).
Solution: Amarr or Minmatar. With a Industrial skill of I or II you can get a very big cargo hold even with just Cargo Expander Is. Even if you don't have the Frigate skill for either race the time savings between avoiding going to Industrial V more than make up the cost in getting the Racial Frigate to III.
Player B - Looking for heavy duty hauling with no desire to venture forth into Transports or Freighters.
Solution: Minmatar. Although the Iteron V has the Mammoth beaten on just about every level (except Signature Radius, which can be a big factor), the difference is very minor. In return you save at least several days of training (likely more than two weeks of it), that could be much better spent elsewhere.
Player C - Needs a lot of space and, at some point, has a need or desire to run Transports.
Solution: If you're going to invest in Transports than the absolute worst option is Gallente and Amarr, why? Because you have to sacrifice cargo space to maintain your effective tank. Minmatar and Caldari offer a nearly equivalent level of cargo space and performance in their Transport ships, but at the same time allow you to take full advantage of their tank bonuses while maintaining that cargo space.
Player D - Same boat as Player C, but also has their eye on Freighters.
Solution: Same with the solution to C. While there is no technical downside to choosing Gallente or Amarr for freighters, the fact of that matter is the Minmatar freighter gives you a slight (very slight, but it's there) bonus to agility/speed over the others, and the Caldari is the largest in cargo capacity (although, again, very slight). So while there is no significant difference, it seems ridiculous not to take every advantage you can get.
P.S. Of course there are people who will choose ships based on their personal feelings, and I support that entirely. However, I hate seeing people force-feeding the "Train Gallente" line over and over again when Gallente is probably the worst option to use when working with Industrials after factoring in training time and need versus ship capability. If you like the look I say go for it, if you're not picky on the looks and need to serve a purpose, then take a look at what will meet your needs rather than working on the cookie cutter answer.
